One sure way to lose every last one of your livestock is by not knowing the signs of parasite infestation in your flock. To know the signs you need to know your livestock. To know your livestock you need to be hands on.
Did you know: Ketosis is a imbalance in energy levels brought on by lambs growing rapidly and requiring more energy from momma ewe? And pregnancy toxemia is directly connected to a reduction in calcium? ...
As I type this it is 11:37 pm and there are jars in the pressure canner. Two jars to be exact. Two jars that mean I have 55 more minutes to stay up and forgo the rest my body is craving. Two jars that also just might be the very jars that God uses to feed a hungry family in need. This is my motivation.
The start of it all!
My motivation. That through my, VERY, sleep deprived eyes I am using to lead me – To push me to the finish line tonight. These veggies were a blessing gifted to my family, and that means they will be gifted on as well. Because we’re always provided for, taken care of, and reminded that just as He cares for the birds of the sky, so He also loves us more.
The kids kept coming up saying “you missed some!” As the grinned and chewed on the cobs. 😉
I’ll be honest, when all my jars couldn’t fit in the canner at once, I was absolutely peeved a bit. I tried moving jars, lifting, shifting, and shoving… Of course, nothing worked, because there simply wasn’t room.
Do you ever feel that way in life? You move things, shove, pull, and push and yet, nothing seems to change. I find myself often wanting to shift things in my life to be more of the ideal I was looking for, yet I am fast reminded that although I might want something a certain way it might not be what God would ask of me.
Sweet, yummy corn, coming up!
Our lives are like these jars of corn. Made up of many individual kernels of corn. Stacked on top of each other and at some point hot water is poured over us and we are cooked. Maybe if we were willing to embrace the unknown and the good that could come, we could also experience the joy of allowing God to use whatever season of spills and messes we are in.
This life isn’t clean or straight forward, no in fact it’s the exact opposite. So possibly if we entertain the idea of knowing that our life is held in our God’s hands – maybe, just maybe, we can experience the sweetness of the juices in this life. It’s so worth it. The mess, the struggle, the crazy…all worth it when we remember He’s providing no matter what.
Happy spills and messes y’all – I’m sure I’ll make a few more before I land in bed for the night. 😉
